Purchasing School Uniform

The main school uniform can be purchased from John Lewis, Stevensons and online at Your School Uniform.  The school's PE kit can only be purchased from www.yourschooluniform.com .  

Nearly new uniform is also available, please contact the school office for more information.

Taverham High School Uniform

All articles of clothing should be clearly marked with the owner's name. If found, named items can be returned to their owner.

The school uniform is:

  • Polo Shirt                             -              Blue, embroidered with school logo
  • Sweatshirt                          -              Light grey, embroidered with school logo
  • Cardigan                              -              Light grey, embroidered with school logo
  • Skirt                                       -              Black, plain
  • Trousers                              -              Black, plain, full-length, tailored
  • Shoes                                    -              Plain black, polishable
     
  • Skirts must be at least knee length
  • Trousers cannot be jeans, leggings or canvas type material
  • Any coat that is worn should not bear offensive or derogatory writing or images
  • Shoes cannot be canvas, suede or nubuck
  • Non-school ‘hoodies’ are not permitted in school.

MAKE-UP AND JEWELLERY:

The following items are acceptable in school:

  • A single, or one pair of discreet stud earrings is allowed in the earlobe. No other body piercings are acceptable because of the potential problems with appearance and Health and Safety issues. Plasters covering such piercings are not acceptable
  • Discreet, natural make-up
  • Natural hair colours with no extreme of fashion
  • Natural nails without varnish, polish or extensions
  • The wearing of rings is not permitted in school.

pe kit:

  • Trainers                  - Ensure they offer suitable grip & support (Converse are not PE trainers)
  • PE Sweatshirt         - Navy embroidered with school logo
  • Polo Shirt                - Navy with Royal panel, embroidered with school logo
  • Shorts or Skort       - Navy with Royal panel, embroidered with school logo
  • Leggings                 - Navy embroidered with school logo ONLY (no alternatives)
  • Tracksuit bottoms  - Navy embroidered with school logo OR PLAIN navy blue
  •  Socks                      - Royal Blue

Footwear:

  • As stated above ensure footwear is fit for purpose and provides secure footing for whatever the surface or activity.
  • We strongly recommend the use of studded boots for football and rugby. 

equipment:

  • The PE department highly recommends the use of studded boots and shin pads for football lessons and the use of a gum shields and shin pads in hockey lessons. During rugby lessons studded boots are highly recommended and gum shields are compulsory in all contact situations.

Fixtures:

The following equipment is compulsory for all fixtures in the following sports without exception:

  • Football - studded boots and shin pads.
  • Rugby - studded boots and gum shields.
  • Hockey - gum shields and shin pad. Goalkeeping kit/equipment must be worn by hockey goalkeepers.
  • Cricket – Cricket helmets and a box must be worn by all batsmen and wicket keepers.

Note: For PE lessons during the winter months, students have the option to wear either the leggings or tracksuit bottoms with the school logo or plain tracksuit bottoms and the school logo PE jumpers to keep warm.  When weather forecasts give warning of hot, sunny weather, it is advisable for students to use sun cream and they may wear caps during suitable outdoor lessons.  Please be advised that in certain weather conditions as well as certain sports that kit may get wet and muddy. 

Wearing incorrect uniform is set out in the school’s behaviour policy as a barrier to learning and sanctions will apply. Failure to adhere to the rules set out above will lead to the following sanctions in September.

Students will be in isolation until they are wearing the correct uniform.

Non-school hoodies

These will be handed in to the student support team.

On the first occasion, they will be given back to the student at the end of the day.

On the second occasion, they will be given back to the students at the end of the week.

On the third occasion parents/carers will be asked to collect the hoodie from school.

Shoes

Students will be in isolation until they are wearing the correct uniform.

Jewellery

These will be handed in to the student support team.

On the first occasion, they will be given back to the student at the end of the day.

On the second occasion, they will be given back to the students at the end of the week.

On the third occasion parents/carers will be asked to collect the jewellery from the school.

Piercings

Students will be in isolation until they are wearing the correct uniform.

Nails

Students will be sent to student support to remove nail varnish. If the nails are extensions, or gels, which cannot be removed then the student will be in isolation until they are wearing the correct uniform.

Hair

Students will be in isolation until their hair once again meets the expectations of colour and/or fashion.

By ensuring the standards of uniform are upheld across the school we hope our students will develop pride in all they do which will maximise their progress throughout their time at the school.
