Student Support

KEEPING SAFE AT SCHOOL: SAFEGUARDING

At THS we consider the welfare and safety of students to be of utmost importance. We will take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of our students.

If a student feels that s/he or another person, is at risk of, or suffering from, serious harm then this should be reported to Ms Ricketts, Ms Killington or Ms Philpot, the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL).

The full Child Protection policy is available in the policies section of this website or follow the link in Featured Content.

The Form Tutor

Each student is a member of a mixed ability form that meets for a 20 minute session after lunch where a structured pastoral programme is carried out. The form tutor is the first port of call for parents/carers and will be able to direct you to who is best able to support your child.

The Head of Year

The Head of Year will have overall pastoral responsibility for your child’s year group. The Head of Year will be available on the first Wednesday of each month from 4:45 pm to enable you to discuss problems or worries. If you need to make an appointment, please contact the school by 3:00pm on the Friday before the date you would like to meet.

ACE: Our Achievement Centre

Within the ACE Centre our aim is to offer young people a safe environment where they feel supported to work through issues, allowing them to achieve their full potential during their time at Taverham High School. Staff will be able to work with issues such as behavioural problems, family trauma, bullying and crisis situations. We offer supported integration back into school for students who have been away for a long period of time through illness, bereavement etc. Our aim is to work with students, parents, carers and support workers, offering a package which will include signposting to appropriate agencies.

Student Welfare Team

At Taverham High School we have a strong and dedicated Student Welfare Team who are able to offer wellbeing and mental health support, as well as signpost parents, carers and students to support networks. The Student Welfare Team can work with our students on a regular basis or as a one off. If, at any time, you feel you, (a THS student) or your child/ward would benefit from some support please complete the referral form below and a member of the team will be in touch.
